 Artists in Test Valley, is a group of professional artists committed to promoting their work within the Test Valley area and beyond. The group formed in 2004 when Test Valley Borough Council announced that they would no longer organise and promote the annual Open Arts scheme. The membership has included, ceramicists, painters, printmakers, sculptors, an artist working in stained glass and jewellers. However, they have recently lost their "potters" as well as one of their Jewellers due to other commitments so if you are a potter or Jeweller and would be interested in joining the group they would like to hear from you. They organise their own Open Studios, which has become an annual event, as well as regular group exhibitions, one of which attracted over 1000 visitors. They believe their strength lies in the diversity of their work, which has proved very popular with the visiting public, and has enabled them to stage some very interesting and attractive exhibitions. They are frequently asked how one goes about joining the group. For administrative reasons it has been decided to keep the membership within tight limits; because of this preference will be given to artists who's work is significantly different, and in particular artists working three dimensionally. At the moment there is no possibility of admitting more painters to the group. |
